What is a mini facelift?
A mini facelift is an aesthetic lifting procedure suitable for patients with moderately sagging skin. It is a cosmetic procedure that makes facial contours more lifted and taut. It can be performed on individuals of all age groups.Depending on the preference and demand for the mini facelift, patients may also opt for additional treatments such as under-eye bag removal, eyebrow lifting, and cheek fat injections. When combined with other procedures, the mini facelift delivers highly effective results, giving patients a more youthful facial expression.
Who is the mini facelift suitable for?
A mini facelift is typically performed on individuals in middle age to prevent the formation of wrinkles. Factors such as age, sun exposure, diet, skin quality, and smoking play a significant role in skin wrinkling. Over time, the collagen content in the skin decreases, and the skin loses its ability to regenerate. Facial features exposed to gravity begin to look aged and tired.To counteract this, a mini facelift is performed. However, excessive wrinkles cannot be fully corrected by a mini facelift; it only involves minimal intervention. The result is more natural than a full facelift. Women between the ages of 50 and 60 are particularly inclined to opt for a mini facelift.
How is the mini facelift performed?
A mini facelift can be performed under local anesthesia. However, if combined with other aesthetic procedures, general anesthesia may be used. The incision for a mini facelift is typically made just in front of the earlobe (where earrings are worn) and can extend up to the scalp.The length of the incision is generally 5-7 cm. Through this incision, displaced and sagging fat pads and soft tissues are lifted upwards, and their new position is secured with stitches.
The skin is then pulled upwards and sideways through the incision to create a more natural and youthful facial expression. If necessary, excess skin is removed, and the skin is restored. Since only a specific amount of skin tissue is removed during a mini facelift, the natural facial expression remains intact. No nerves are severed during the procedure, meaning there is no loss of facial sensitivity post-surgery. The procedure typically lasts around 2.5 hours.
Advantages of the Mini Facelift
A mini facelift is performed in a shorter time compared to a traditional facelift. The recovery time is faster, with bruising and swelling subsiding quickly, allowing patients to return to their daily activities sooner.Since the mini facelift is generally performed on younger individuals, the skin recovers more quickly than after a full facelift. However, endoscopic facelifts are considered a more effective technique.
